Reno's shameful record should make voters recoil

Kenneth R. Timmerman outlines in detail the history of Janet Reno ["Reno Redux in Florida," Oct. 29] and says her run for governor of Florida will be the political race of the year. Here is a woman who flouted the law, absolutely refused to investigate Chinagate, was at the bottom of the Clinton scandal years and okayed the forced entry into the Florida home to snatch Elian Gonzalez from his family. And she still is a formidable opponent?
With the evidence from her years as U.S. attorney general, all Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has to do is quote the record. However, he has to have guts enough to take it to her every time he gives a speech or campaigns and not let up. This Floridian says there is no way that Reno can win if Bush plays hardball with her.
