What kind of aromas evoked feelings of nostalgia also differed according to age. Those born earlier in the century responded to natural odors -- hay, fresh air and cut grass. Those born after 1930 were more likely to respond to artificial odors -- Play-Doh, suntan oil, tacos, tuna casserole, even jet fuel.
