> Thomas Morgan, 56, a former New York Times journalist and the first openly gay president of the National Association of Black Journalists, of complications from AIDS, in Southampton, Mass., December 24. After reporting for The Miami Herald and The Washington Post, Morgan moved to the Times, where he held various positions as reporter and editor before retiring in 1994 to focus on AIDS activism.
