As the debate about Social Security reform heats up and the biggest wave of retirement in American history looms, gay seniors entering assisted living situations, nursing homes, and retirement communities still face widespread homophobia.
Examples from a number of recent reports include:
* Threatened outings by staff or home care assistants
* Compromised care as a result of coming out
* Teasing, discrimination, or abuse by staff and the predominantly heterosexual elder population
