In the November 8 issue, we asked:
Is it demeaning to gays and women to paint a college football locker room pink to "pacify" opponents?
* "There have been studies that show that the color pink can sooth aggressive behavior. That being the case, there may be an ethical issue. But it in no way is demeaning to me as a gay man, nor should it be to a woman. Pink is a color; it isn't a person."
* "The homophobic intention is obvious. The only thing left out is painting the word faggots on the visitor locker room door."
* "Colors are colors, and the way a person responds to them is simply psychological. Saying that a color is specific to gays and women is demeaning in the first place."
* "Yes, because the intent is to humiliate the people occupying the locker room."
* "Since when was the color pink the symbol for homosexuality?"
* "The locker room has been painted pink because of its calming effect. My hope is that Erin Buzuvis can focus her energies on any number of true problems our community faces."
