Group to watch
Advocate, The, July 19, 2005
Upset by the war in Iraq and the military's antigay policies, a group of college students in San Francisco is hoping local residents will side with them in wanting to bar military recruiters from school campuses. The "College Not Combat" campaign kicked off on May 28 with the first in a series of signature-gathering rallies.
The group is working to put a resolution on the November ballot in San Francisco affirming the city's opposition to school-based recruiting. At press time they had gathered close to 7,000 of the 15,000 signatures needed.
