Cruising with PlanetOut
Advocate, The, Feb 28, 2006
Two months after acquiring LPI Media (publisher of The Advocate, Out, and other magazines), PlanetOut (operators of Gay.com, among other entities) announced January 23 that it had bought gay and lesbian travel company RSVP Vacations for $6.5 million. PlanetOut, which offered its stock publicly in 2004, is the world's largest media company serving gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people.
Jeff Soukup, PlanetOut's chief operating officer, said RSVP "is an excellent strategic fit for PlanetOut, giving us an additional platform to serve the varied needs of the LGBT community."
RSVP, a 21-year-old company based in Minneapolis, offers cruises, land tours, and resort vacations to gay and lesbian travelers.
