Friend or foe?
Advocate, The, Feb 28, 2006 by Jim David
FOE GENE SHALIT, for a review calling Jack's character a "sexual predator." Shalit himself is the victim of a "hair predator."
FRIEND GENE SHALIT, for apologizing for offending the gay community with his review. The hair comment still stands, however.
FOE LARRY MILLER, owner of the NBA's Utah Jazz and Salt Lake City--area multiplexes, who canceled the local opening of the film after he was told what it was about. Replacing it was a local favorite, Polygamy Mountain.
FOE WORLDNETDAILY.COM MANAGING EDITOR DAVID KUPELIAN, who accused the filmmakers of "raping the Marlboro Man." Turns out he watched Falcon's Ranch Hands by accident.
FOE "EX-GAY" STEPHEN BENNETT, who warns Americans to "beware" of the film because it will cause men to leave their wives. And King Kong will make you lurk around the zoo.
FRIEND HEATH LEDGER, for criticizing the decision not to show the film in Utah and elsewhere. No joke here. I just want him to be my friend.
FRIEND THE HOLLYWOOD FOREIGN PRESS ASSOCIATION, for awarding the film four Golden Globes, including Best Drama. I promise to stop giving foreign tourists bogus directions.
FRIEND AUDIENCES IN THE HEARTLAND, who continue to flock to the film. Of course they do--for some it's a documentary.
