"A few months back, I received an e-mail from X Games star Travis Pastrana asking me to give his friend Matt Bigos a call," says Roenigk, a New York-based freelance writer. "He told me that five years ago, he and Bigos were in a car crash that left Bigos paralyzed from the waist down. Matt was told he would never walk again, and now he's running triathlons." Instantly, she knew this was a story she had to tell. "Bigos did the impossible," Roenigk says. "Inspirational is a term that's thrown around much too often, but it should be saved for people like Matt." In addition to writing "No Time for Never" for MF, Roenigk is an editor at ESPN the Magazine and has just published her first book, The Big Jump: The Too of Travis Pastrana.
