Exercise your brain - effects of exercise on brain activity - Brief Article

Men's Fitness, March, 2002

Feeling slow and indecisive? Jump on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Preliminary results from a small study at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign indicate that exercise boosts the speed and efficacy of the decision-making process. Twenty young men and women were given easy and difficult computer tests before and after their treadmill time, which consisted of a half-hour of moderately heavy to heavy running and a break to let their hearts return to resting levels. While there was no difference in the easy test results, brain activity was faster and more accurate on the tougher exam. The results of the study were presented at the annual meeting of the Society of Psychophysiological Research in Montreal.

To break the wind factor of some legumes, soak beans overnight before cooking. During meals, avoid combining beans with fruits or sugary foods. Your friends and family will thank you.
