Men's Fitness, March, 2004
EVER HAD THAT dream? You know the one: You're giving a sponge bath to a homeless man, but just before he sneezes the gold, you wake up only to find you edit a fitness magazine. Well, er, neither have we. But if you're plagued by dreams of equal bizaritude, never fear--sleep easy, save millions on psychiatrists and understand your inner workings with our simple decoder key below.
DYING
Calm down. According to Veronica Tonay, Ph.D., and author of Every Dream Interpreted, this is usually a positive thing, the ultimate transformation, a recent change, or the start of a new phase. That, or someone is sending you messages from the great beyond--your time is nigh, pick out a plot, and push up daisies.

FALLING?
This common conundrum tends to occur right as you're about to "fall" asleep and can mean several things. Either you're overly ambitious and need to set more realistic goals, or you have an unconscious fear of taking a big risk--a new business venture or, perhaps, throwing larger plates on the squat rack.
BEING CHASED?
Dream Doctor Sigmund Freud once said that guys who dream of running away have a fear of being castrated. Maybe, but it's more likely you're worried about all the lies you've told catching up with you.
LOSING TEETH?
Here are three possible explanations courtesy of Tonay: a loss of face from a recent humiliation, actually losing teeth, or you've lost your ability to bite. In other words, before you end up just another whipped yes man like the guy in the next cubicle, be assertive or forceful when giving your opinions.
NUDITY?
Being buck-naked uncovers your perceived feelings of vulnerability, usually during some kind of a transition. Perhaps you're concerned about being exposed in a new job or a new relationship.
