Heather Mitts: The MF interview
Nate MilladoQ: You played pro soccer with the Philadelphia Charge. How'd you stay so fit in the second-fattest city in America?
A: I'm a pretty dedicated workout fanatic. If I take a couple of days off, I feel gross. For the most part, I try to eat healthy and work out six days a week. But I do have my downfalls--when I was in Philly, I dabbled with the cheesesteaks.
Q: Cheesesteaks?
A: Yeah, I have a pretty hefty appetite. I can out-eat my boyfriend [Miami Dolphins QB A.J. Feeley].
Q: Any soccer-related scars?
A: I've broken my tibia, dislocated my elbow, and got a couple of permanent cleat marks I'm pretty proud of.
Q: At 5'5", how do you defend against much bigger players?
A: When I was younger, my brother and I used to go outside and beat the crap out of each other in socccer. That's where I get my aggressive mentality.
Q: Is it hard not to use your hands?
A: Not really. I've learned to focus on everything from the neck down--my chest, thighs, oh, and my head.
Q: Do people underestimate your athletic ability because of your hotness?
A: A lot of times, if I'm not in my uniform, people look at me and think I can't be a good soccer player. They think, "Oh you're so sweet, so little." But once they see me in action, they change their mind.
