BACK ON EARTH: Casey Thomas, age 23, from Salt Lake City, Utah, the current 18-and-over amateur mountain-boarding national champion, snapped his board on contact after launching it--and himself--off a 12-foot-high cliff during our photo shoot. Besides a few scrapes--and a board destined for the scrap heap--Casey walked away from the crash unhurt.
