In defense of Atkins

Men's Fitness,  April, 2005  by Jeff Coley

I was disappointed to read Samantha Heller's attack on low-carb diets ("Good Carb, Bad Carb," Nov. '04). Ms. Heller seems to be describing a "nocarb" diet. I have been following the Atkins Iow-carb diet for two months and have lost 25 pounds. My mind is clear, and I feel great. Contrary to the author's dismissive claim that Iowcarb dieting is carb-phobic, the ultimate goal of a diet like Atkins is not to eliminate carbs.
