How influenced are you by the alleged health benefits printed on a food label? A study out of the University of Glasgow suggests that you should evaluate labels based on the overall healthfulness of a food and not let "fat-free" be your guiding light. The study found that college students were more apt to consider yogurt labeled "95% fat-free" to be healthier than yogurt with a label that read "Contains 5% fat." This perception, or misperception, extended to products with a fat content as high as 25%.
