THE BOTTOM LINE: Be very careful when performing exercises that cause a lot of stress on the shoulder, advises Essentials. When doing variations of bench, incline and shoulder presses, pay extra attention to warming up with light weight, and do exercises that hit the shoulder from different angles (posterior, medial and anterior) to prevent muscular imbalance. Always use controlled movements and lower the weight slowly.
