SOLUTION

1. Don't expect her to buy shoes she doesn't want. You need to break open your wallet and buy them for her.

2. Don't surprise her with a pair--she'll read right through that. Instead, go shopping with her, and after buying her the skirt she wants, ask, "Now, can I get you something for me?"

3. For God's sake, man, don't suggest the pair of red plastic hooker sandals, Take her to Kenneth Cole and get the closed-toe pair that reek of sexy secretary or slutty socialite.
