Happy new year
Men's Fitness, June-July, 2006 by Neal Boulton
MY NEW YEAR DOESN'T START IN January. It starts in June, usually in Hermosa Beach, Calif., where the real ball drops, just about every night--and the workouts you'll get there have nothing to do with the gym.
Back in the '70s, fitness was Bruce Jenner and the running craze that had swept the entire nation. In the '80s, muscle ruled. Then, magazines like Men's Fitness came into being--and all we really covered was, well, fitness.
I've taken a new approach. Because today, fitness is no longer a special interest. It's an expected part of a guy's life that, once incorporated, allows you to turn your attention to the soul of living--and all the things that being fit lets you enjoy even more.

Like having a better body for the clothes you want to wear. More confidence for the conquests you want to score. Stamina to deliver where (and when) it counts. And wicked motivation for all the goals you want to pursue--be they professional or personal. The ability to transform from lazy partying bastard to rock-star partying badass.
Somehow, in past issues, this side of the fit life was missing, or just too hard to incorporate into a scrawny caption about the proper bench-press form.
So, are you fit yet? I want you to be. Hell, I want you to feel the way I do, which is why I share the best of fitness practice and form--as well as everything I can procure that is part of the life I know you'll lead as a fit guy.
Now get up off your ass--and go for it. Happy new year.
