A woman's sense of smell may influence her desire for sex, claims a group of Italian scientists. But, according to their study published in the European journal Human Reproduction, women on the pill may find themselves less responsive to your not-so-discreet overtures.

That's because birth control pills may put a damper on a woman's sexual desire by desensitizing her sense of smell. The study, which tested 60 women between the ages of 18 to 40, found that women who were not taking the pill experienced rises and falls in their ability to sense smells that corresponded to particular stages in their monthly cycles. However, when the women took the pill, the group experienced no changes during different phases of the cycle.
