Looking for mass - body weight increase - Brief Article

Men's Fitness,  July, 2002  by Aaron Thomas

I am 23 years old, 5'10" and 130 pounds. Nearly every article in your magazine mentions reducing fat or adding cardio. I am not sure if these are the tips that I should be following, as body fat is not really a problem for me. I'm actually trying to add weight, not lose it. Please advise.

--AARON THOMAS, HOUSTON, TX

As we've said before, Aaron, it's impossible to go in two directions at once. If you're trying to add size, you have to cut back on the cardio, if not cut it out completely for now. You also have to eat more than you ever imagined--an additional 500 calories a day of quality food may be called for. However, stay tuned; there's hope for you yet. In the upcoming November issue, we're providing a 10-week mass-building program that should put you on the fast track to gaining weight.
