SOME DAYS, MAKING it to the gym can seem like a biblical undertaking. So when it's time to make like Moses and part the Red Sea of sloth, don't waste a second in unfocused meandering from one aerobics instructor to the next. Follow these four easy tips, courtesy of Los Angeles, Calif.-based personal trainer Christopher Coleman, to maximize your training efficiency:
1. HAVE A CLEAR idea of the muscle group or groups you plan to work before you step foot in the gym.
2. MAKE A LIST of the day's exercises that includes alternative workouts in case the wait at one station is too long. (For example, bench presses can be your first choice, followed by dumbbell bench presses, then machine presses.)

3. CARRY A WATER bottle to cut down on trips to the fountain.
4. DON'T STOP AND gab. By staying in motion, you're less tempted to socialize.
