Stapling reduces 'rhoid rage - surgically stapled hemorrhoids - Brief Article
Men's Fitness, August, 2002
Having your hemorrhoids surgically stapled rather than removed is definitely the lesser of two unpleasant procedures. In a report published in Archives of Surgery, researchers at the University Hospital of Zurich found that stapling took one-third less time to perform than conventional surgery. Twenty percent of the stapling group were pain-free the next day versus zero percent on the surgery side, and the former averaged a week's recovery before getting back to work while the latter needed three weeks.
With conventional removal, the wound is not always closed, while stapling uses surrounding tissue and affixes it over the wound.
