Fight the fat
Men's Fitness, August, 2003 by Joseph Franklin
I recently read your article on the ravages caused by high-fructose corn syrup in food products [Fast Track, June]. The substitutes you recommended left me a bit miffed. Have you read the contents labels on the products you selected as substitutes for eggs and bacon? I believe that all the products contain preservatives, chemicals, food coloring and corn syrup. I think I'll stick with "natural cholesterol" versus poisoning myself with a "chemical preservative" diet of fake eggs and formaldehyde bacon. Your article needed to compare all aspects of the contents of these foods, not just fat. Just a little food for thought.

"Poisoning" yourself with chemical preservatives? Slow down on the melodrama, Joe. While you'd have a hard time proving that the majority of food preservatives, additives and colorings are bad for you, it's a deadsure fact that dietary fat is a leading cause of obesity, stroke, diabetes, erectile dysfunction and some cancers. It may also be the reason you're not getting those phone numbers from members of the opposite sex.
