Polo player: the smooth style of Ralph Lauren

Men's Fitness,  Sept, 2004  by Warren Christopher

Before Ralph Lauren made a name for himself in fashion's capital cities, offices were dismal dungeons populated by business-class stiffs in gray suits and skinny black neckwear. Consider that period the Dark Ages.

Then, in 1967, Lauren sparked a renaissance of sorts. He designed a me of ties he thought would help make businessmen stand out from their blah boardroom brethren. His ties were wider than the norm and came in flashier fabrics than men were used to wearing. The line grew, one he called it Polo, naming it after a classic sport that requires as much skill as it does a certain level of inbred cool Lauren put the dash in haberdashery.

Since then, Lauren has built an empire that offers so much more man neckties. He's created a legendary lifestyle brand that appeals to both regular guys and ambassadors to Luxembourg alike. After all, you don't get a fellow like P. Diddy calling you the "sexiest man on the planet" for nothing.

So, whether you're stockpiling preppy Polo shirts, filling your drawers with his new microfiber boxer briefs, or if you can afford it, investing in a Purple Label suit (his top-shelf, most-expensive line), you'll feel like that wind-burned, horse-riding, al-American guy Lauren dreams you could be.
