Nike free 5.0

Men's Fitness, Oct, 2008 by Noah Johnson

Nike calls its Free technology "foot strength training." For a barefoot feel, Nike relies on a sock liner patterned on the loot's natural curve, an ultralight midsole, and a deeply grooved outsole that flexes like a naked foot. The Free feels surprisingly cushy for such a minimal shoe but works best for short training sessions on soft surfaces. $85 @ nike.com

BEST FOR: Athletes who want to build foot strength and develop a barefoot-style technique on short runs.

AVOID IF: You're looking for a full-time training shoe.
