Follicle fallout
Men's Fitness, Sept, 2001
Why must my favorite magazine insist on continuously portraying baldness as a flaw? Why does the media in general love portraying bald men's aesthetics as inferior or unattractive? Flip through your magazine, guys--there are nothing but silky black-haired men. I would love to see an issue in which all of your models have shaved heads.
I happen to be a 30-year-old bald guy with a nice-shaped noggin and in the best shape of my life. I am considering throwing your magazine away or using it as fireplace fodder after the article on the woes of the balding ["Hair Lost, Hair Found," June]. Anyway, thanks for years of wonderful exercise advice. I just hope you can find it in your overhaired hearts to lay off thinking all of us bald guys wish we had hair, and refrain from throwing ridiculously expensive and, most often, horrible-looking solutions at something that is not even a problem.

As the expression goes, Win some, lose some. See the next letter.
Thanks for the informative article on hair loss. As a 29-year-old male with thinning hair and a history of baldness in my family, I'm constantly thinking about my (eventual) lack of locks. And even though I'm not a candidate for hair replacement, it's good to know there are options out there should such a need ever arise. I enjoy working out and find your exercise articles very useful, but it's nice to see you guys throwing other topics into the mix.
