Missed the point

Men's Fitness,  Sept, 2003

I was disgusted by the title of your article "Turn Her 'No' Into a Go" [July]. First, it implies that when a woman says no, she doesn't really mean it, so you can manipulate her into the sack. Second, when a woman says no, it is her right to do so. And you (men) should back the f**k off. I had no problems with the article itself--women write about how to get men into bed all the time, and there should be no double standard. But I fear this article's title will make men feel that they have a right to have sex with a woman who says no. The fact that the author was a woman shames me. Remember, you need to be more careful about how underlying messages can be perceived.

Oh, please. Of course, as you stated, when a woman says no, it's her right. We never said--and would never say--otherwise. But this article examined situations where an initial rejection is based on certain conditions that can be improved upon, in which case the woman in question may change her mind--which, as we're sure you'll agree, is also her right. Since you had no problem with the article itself, your implication is that men are so prone to evil, not to mention so stupid, that merely misinterpreting a headline could lead them to force themselves upon women. That's just daft.
