Conduct anti-gambling seminars

Today's Manager, Dec-Jan, 2008 by Jacqueline Lim, Esther Lee, Jeannie Eng, Celine Ong, Kee Sooi Hong, Angela Seow

Electrode Inc shouldn't involve itself into this situation of staff borrowing money from others within the organisation. It's a personal issue. The company has no right to dismiss Christopher Marcus within 24 hours. It was being too impulsive and harsh to Christopher. This has greatly affected the employees' morale.

KK Ong should given a warning letter from the management for his failure to manage internal relationship. He was unfair and showed favouritism to certain employees. He must treat everyone in the organisation equally. He should recommend that Christopher contact the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) for help.

Electrode can request that NCPG conduct some seminars for the staff to understand the problem of gambling.

The firm can set up a personal loan scheme as a staff benefit. employees can borrow up to twice their basic pay and company reserves the right to deduct the repayments of the loans within 20 months upon approval from the HR department.--Contributed by Jacqueline Lim, Esther Lee, Jeannie Eng, Celine Ong, Kee Sooi Hong, and Angela Seow
