Learning good habits

Today's Manager, Dec-Jan, 2008 by Joyce Tan

Electrode Inc may not have the right to dismiss a staff with such a short notice since the act carried out by Christopher is a personal issue. On the other hand, the company may have the right to dismiss him if there is a clause in the employment terms that "No borrowing or lending of money is allowed". But this will depend on the recommended disciplinary action. Guilty staff can be given a warning letter for first offence and for a repeat of the offence, the person's service can be terminated.

KK Ong should be objective in dealing with this situation. He does not show fairness when he only reported to the management after Colleen's complained.

Having staff seminars can help to create awareness in ethics but it will depend on the individual whether they want to practise good habits or not.--Contributed by Joyce Tan
