Scotland's Referendum In Retrospect

Contemporary Review, Oct, 2000 by R.D. Kernohan

The mood of Scotland is no longer that of the referendum campaign, but most of the factors evident in it are still present. An analytical survey can identify what they were and imply that they cannot be ignored. How they will develop, and how they will be subject to moderation or inflammation, remains a matter for intelligent but perhaps necessary guesswork.

R. D. Kernohan is the former Editor of the Church of Scotland journal 'Life and Work'. The most recent of his numerous publications is 'John Buchan in a nutshell' (The Handsel Press).
