Durham Cathedral - Poem
Contemporary Review, Jan, 2002 by A.K. Whitehead
DURHAM CATHEDRAL I Tall walls rising before the evenfall of the first millennium, cursed by time, losing substance in the ooze of crumble, converting to an earlier state, renewed, restored at ground and altitude. II The peace of centuries of prayers released, dusting from the walls in the gust of time and losing in the hard abuse of years nothing of its nature, but enduring and gathering the strength of recipients.
