This study advances knowledge on this topic regarding recent research, treatment, and relevant policy initiatives. All of the work is reported within the context of the human service community to ensure relevance to practitioners as well as researchers. The first section includes five studies examining different aspects of adolescent girls' violence: major correlates of aggression from recent research literature; the extent of violence experienced by a general high school sample; a qualitative examination of verbal and physical aggression in high-risk girls; the cycle of violence in girls' lives; and a new instrument to assess aggression with girls. The second section focuses on treatment and prevention in the justice system, community agencies, and schools. The final section addresses policy, practice, and further research.
