KRAIZER, Sherryll. 10 Days to a Bully-Proof Child: The Proven Program to Build Confidence and Stop Bullies for Good. New York: Marlowe & Company, 2007. 232pp. $14.95 (p).

Bullying is an all too common occurrence for many children and adolescents. 10 Days to a Bully-Proof Child shows parents how to protect their children from this dangerous problem by walking them through the process of addressing bullying behaviors--verbal, physical, and emotional bullying--and providing specific steps and actions that they can take. Based on the author's Take a Stand program, 10 Days to a Bully-Proof Child teaches families how to role play conflict scenarios so that children can respond to bullies effectively. When children role play with their parents, they learn skills that will come into play automatically when they find themselves in situations of risk. Each day children will learn a new assertiveness skill in order to: react with confidence when a bully shows up; speak up for themselves; deal with negative comments and feelings of frustration; handle cyber-bullying; safely tell an adult about harassment; and be an advocate for others.
