The Dia Art Foundation

Afterimage, July-August, 2005

The Dia Art Foundation, founded in New York City in 1974, plans to move from its current space in Chelsea to a new site in the meatpacking district. The estimated $55 million dollar plan, still awaiting public approval, would involve the demolition of 820 Washington Street and the building of a two-story 45,000-square-foot museum.

If all goes according to plan, the new site would be expected to open as early as 2007.
