Be Good, Smile Pretty: filmmaker interview with Tracy Droz Tragos

Afterimage, Sept-Oct, 2003 by Christine Sevilla

What are you interested in pursuing in your next film?

I need to recover from making this film. I think it's good to take downtime and not to quickly jump into another project, but there are many stories I am very interested in. I'm very interested in small, personal stories that have a much bigger, deeper, wider context. I don't know what I'm going to do next. In fact, I still feel in some ways as if I'm not finished telling this story around Be Good, Smile Pretty.

Is there anything that I didn't ask you about that you're interested in talking about?

If people are interested in learning more about this project, they can go to www.pbs.org/independentlens or www.begoodsmilepretty.com. We're developing a discussion guide and outreach materials to support audience members and encourage other journeys of grief and healing.
