Essentially, TechTAP was created to address short-term needs of New York State's non-profit cultural organizations in the process of integrating technology into their current programs. TechTAP has awarded a total of $85,500 during its inaugural year. One award was given to En Foco which will train its staff to make updates to their permanent collection on-line (www.nearbycafe.com). These in-house updates are to be made on their searchable historical database, which includes works by approximately 300 contemporary photographers of Latino, Asian, African and Native American heritage. Other recipients include Peculiar Works Project (New York City), Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (New York City), Carnegie Art Center/Tonawandas' Council on the Arts (North Tonawanda) and Open Channels NY (Dixon Place). . . .
