Afterimage, Nov, 2000

Corbis, the world's leading news photography agency, has launched a new production company called Corbis Documentaries. Led by Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist and filmmaker David Turnley, Corbis Documentaries will use state-of-the-art digital multimedia in the creation of documentaries for a worldwide audience.

Turnley states, "Corbis Documentaries has a unique opportunity to bring together world-renowned photojournalists and documentary filmmakers to tell powerful stories with strong social perspectives." The new division will produce two documentary films this year: La Tropicale, shot and produced by Turnley, which will explore Cuban culture through popular dance in Havana; and Dream Keepers, shot and produced by John Goheen--four-time National Press Photographers Association Photographer of the Year and recipient of 12 Emmys--which will present the aspirations of four Navajo runners in the Southwestern U.S.
