Grants available: New York Foundation of the Arts (NYFA) offers Special Opportunity Stipends (S.0.5. grants) to NY artists ranging from $100-$600 for opportunities that will significantly benefit the artist's work or career development. Applicants must be 18 and older and must have been a full-time NY resident for the year preceeding the application deadline. Internships available: Afterimage offers unpaid internships that give students, emerging scholars, critics, writers, and thinkers the opportunity to become intricately involved with the day-to-day operations of a small non-profit arts journal. Tasks include line-editing, copy-editing, proof-reading, research, promotional activities, and writing book reviews for our "Received and Noted" section. Interns are asked to commit to at least 10 hours/week for three months and are welcome to stay longer. College (undergraduate or graduate) credit can be arranged through the home institution. Internships available: The Center for Photography at Woodstock offers photography students and new graduates the opportunity to participate in the entire Woodstock Photography Workshop and Lecture Series as interns (a tuition remission of over $5,000). Interns learn strategies in teaching, creative imagemaking, and gain access to the professional realm. They have the opportunity to personally meet and work with each visiting artist, share their portfolios with professionals, be exposed to a diversity of approaches to the medium, experience first-hand a wide range of teaching styles and philosophies, and learn techniques and skills for a wide range of topics in photography. To be selected, interns must have transportation, and plan to live in, or relocate to, the Woodstock, New York area during their internship. Candidates are selected by in-person interviews only.
