William Henry jackson, Gordon Parks and Helmut Gernsheim have been inducted into the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum, located in Oklahoma City. William Henry Jackson (1843-1942), primarily a landscape photographer who documented life on the frontier, is also known for his depiction of American Indian village life before the dawn of reservations.

Gordon Parks (b.1912), one of the most respected modern-day photographers, is being recognized for his prolific career, which includes being the first African-American photographer for the Farm Security Administration, the Office of War information and for both Life and Vogue magazines. In addition to documenting Harlem and the civil rights movement in the 1960s, Parks also worked both as an international photojournalist and as a fashion photographer. Helmut Gernsheim (1939-1995) is the first historian to be inducted. Gernsheim, in addition to having published several books and amassing one of the world's most extensive photographic collections, is also credited with discovering "the world's first photograph," made by Joseph Nicephore Niepce.
