Carolyn Livingston is professor and director of graduate studies in music at the University of Rhode Island. Her book, Charles Faulkner Bryan: His Life and Music, is published by the University of Tennessee Press.

James Ackman holds a Ph.D. in music education. from the University of Florida. He has taught at Boston University, the University of Rhode Island and Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He is assistant director of bands and director of percussion studies at Pittsburg State University.
