Robert Cutietta, a specialist in music education, is the new dean of the University of Southern California (USC) Thornton School of Music.
For the past three years, Cutietta has been professor and director of the School of Music and Dance at the University of Arizona. His areas of expertise include the middle-school learner, choral education, learning theories and the psychology of music.
Cutietta earned an Ed.D. in music education at Pennsylvania State University in 1982 and master's and bachelor's degrees from Cleveland State University in 1978 and 1975, respectively.
Cutietta succeeds Larry J. Livingston, who has been appointed director of USC's arts center project.
