A one-of-a-kind Steinway Model B grand piano--commemorating the 100th anniversary of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM)--has been presented to the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, California.

According to Frank Mazurco, executive vice president of Steinway & Sons, the NAMM Centennial Steinway grand has been signed by twenty-eight renowned Steinway artists in addition to carrying the signature of the museum's founding president, Henry Z. Steinway, the great grandson of Steinway & Sons's founder.

"This museum plays an extremely important role in educating the world about the importance of music making and what music has meant to this country," Mazurco said. "We are honored to present this grand piano to the museum."

Among the Steinway artists to sign the NAMM Centennial Steinway's cast-iron plate are Tom Grant, John Nauman, Robert DeGaetano, John Lewis, Joyce Di Camillo, Mike Long, Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Larry Dalton.

The Museum of Making Music, located at the NAMM headquarters, was founded in 2000 as a nonprofit institution, providing an interactive, century-long overview of American music making through the display of more than 450 vintage instruments, hundreds of audio and video clips and an interactive stage.
