American Music Teacher, Oct-Nov, 2002 by Roy Wylie
I would like to introduce our new Southern Division officers.
I am pleased to announce Jeanette Winsor, NCTM, past-president of Virginia MTA, as our competitions chair. In this year of transition, please remember to be on your toes, read carefully any new instructions and do your best to heed deadlines. This will greatly aid Jeanette in undertaking this monumental task. Other members who have graciously volunteered to take coordinator positions are Donald Speer, NCTM, past president of Kentucky MTA, as coordinator of the Collegiate Artist Performance Competitions and Collegiate Chamber Music Performance Competition; Martha Thomas of the University of Georgia, coordinating the High School Performance Competitions; Lynn Rice-See of East Tennessee State University as coordinator of the Junior High School Performance Competitions; and Carol Schutzmann, NCTM, an independent music teacher, coordinating the Student Composition Competitions. Sharon Lebsack, NCTM, of the University of Southern Mississippi, will be our certification commissioner. I am very excited about this roster of officers, and with everyone's help, this year will be a great success.
The Charlotte MTA hosted its annual Music Career Fair September 7. The fair offered an opportunity for East Coast colleges and universities to visit with college-bound students, parents and teachers to discuss music careers.
