West Central Division - MTNA Division News - Music Teachers National Association

American Music Teacher, Oct-Nov, 2002 by Janice Wenger

The earliest competitions in the West Central Division will be held in several states, all on the weekend of October 26-27. Minnesota competitions will be held at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. Nebraska competitions will be held at the University of Nebraska-Kearney campus, in conjunction with their state conference; Robert Roux and Jane Magrath, NCTM, will be featured guests. Valley City State University in North Dakota is hosting both the state conference and the competitions, and both events in South Dakota are scheduled for Rapid City.

During the first weekend in November, Colorado will hold competitions at Wells Music in Denver, and the Iowa competitions will be at Iowa State University in Ames. Truman State University in Kirksville will host the Missouri conference and competitions the same weekend, with William Wellborn as guest artist.

Kansas has split its conference and competitions this year for the first time. A conference featuring Arthur Houle and Amir Khosrowpur, 2002 Collegiate Artist Piano Competition Winner, was held at Fort Hays State University in September, with competitions set for Wichita State University on November 1 6-17.

The division competitions will be held at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, January 10-12, 2003. All are welcome.
