Longtime VH1 Save The Music Foundation Board Chief Executive Officer Bob Morrison will be stepping down from that post to pursue other interests, announced Foundation Board Chair Sandy Feldstein.
Morrison was responsible for overseeing the development of the Foundation at the direction of former VH1 President John Sykes and became the foundation's executive director and CEO in 1998. He will serve as a consultant to the Foundation as needed.
VH1 Save The Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education in America's public schools by restoring music education programs in cities across the U.S. and raising awareness of the importance of music participation for this nation's youth.
In six years the organization has grown to a position of national prominence, restoring music programs in more than 1,000 schools in eighty cities, benefiting more than 500,000 children and putting $25 million worth of musical instruments into children's hands. VH1 Save The Music received many national awards including a Prime Time Emmy Award, a Peabody Award and eleven Beacon Awards.
