The Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, recently announced the appointment of NancyBell Coe as president and W. Harold Laster as vice president and dean.
Coe formerly was the artistic administrator of the Aspen Music Festival and School and prior to that was general manager of the Cleveland Orchestra and was orchestra manager and general manager of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Coe earned a B.A. degree in music from Wellesley College.
Laster will oversee student life, including recruitment and admissions, as well as the music library and archives, and the buildings and grounds department. He formerly was dean of the Aspen Music Festival and School and is a graduate of Maryville College in Tennessee and the University of Southern California.
