Frank Huang, a student of MTNA member Donald Weilerstein, won the 2003 Walter W. Naumhurg International Violin Competition, receiving a $10,000 cash prize.
In addition Huang received two fully subsidized recitals at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and twenty recital and orchestral appearances throughout the United States, among other prizes. He is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM).
Ayana Ninomiya took the second prize, winning $7,500. Sharon Roffman, also a student of Weilerstein and a CIM graduate, won third prize in the competition, receiving $5,000.
