American Music Teacher, Oct-Nov, 2004
This year marks the centennial of Frederick Harris Music Co., Limited, one of the oldest educational print music publishers in North America.
Frederick Harris Music offers more than 450 publications in its catalog, including its newest series Celebrate Piano.
Frederick Harris (1866-1945) devoted his life to music publishing, beginning his career in England working for a large music publishing firm. In 1904, he started his own business in London and in 1910, established a Canadian office in Toronto. This move marked the beginning of a long association with The Royal Conservatory of Music and its examination system, which is supported by Frederick Harris teaching materials. Among them are the Celebration Series, The Piano Odyssey, Voice Repertoire Series, Guitar Series and Violin Series.
