MTNA President R. Wayne Gibson, NCTM, recently appointed members to three task forces.

LeAnn House, NCTM, of Minnesota, will chair the State Syllabus Task Force. The purpose of this task force is to identify MTNA state affiliates that have syllabus programs, determine the strength of these programs, and develop and recommend to the MTNA Board of Directors a model process that may be used by states to establish a syllabus program. Other members of the task force are Sharon Ard, NCTM, Arkansas; Celinda Hallbauer, NCTM, Texas; and Mark Mrozinski, Illinois.

A Diversity Task Force, developed to advise the MTNA leadership of programs and services that should be established to better meet the needs of minority music teachers, is chaired by pianist Leon Bates. Myrtle David, director of the Tourgee DeBose National Piano Competition Foundation, Jacqueline Faulcon, Delaware MTA President-elect, and Tobizina Brown Williams, an MTNA member from Texas, also are on the task force.

The Competitions Repertoire Task Force will make recommendations to the Board of Directors related to competitions repertoire, rules and procedures. Chairing the task force is MTNA Treasurer Paul Stewart, NCTM, of North Carolina. Also on the task force are Ann Fernandez, NCTM, of Alaska and Scott McBride Smith, NCTM, of California.
