Washington State MTA recently held a combined Leadership Seminar/Adjudicator Conference at Central Washington University. The leadership seminar is designed for chapter presidents, state committee chairs and members of the Executive and Education Boards. Highlights included a panel presentation and discussion on running an effective business meeting, handling group tensions, building communication skills, and getting volunteers and motivating participation. Local presidents held a forum to share ideas and network about program ideas, newsletters, festivals, fundraisers, budget and record-keeping guidelines. Saturday evening ended with entertainment and an ice cream social. Adjudicator conference attendees shared ideas on ways to work effectively with students, parents and teachers that would make the adjudication process a positive and encouraging experience.

Washington State MTA recently started a Hall of Fame to give statewide recognition for exceptional support, inspiration and outstanding contribution to the growth and development of music and music education, both public and private. Members were nominated, then selected by a Hall of Fame Committee and honored at the State Convention Banquet.
